Media Arts Center Fundraising Campaign

Horizontal banner

The Media Arts Center, located at the corner of Columbus Avenue and Malcolm X Boulevard, directly across from the Roxbury Crossing train station, is a hub for the arts in our community. Over the years, our 500 seat auditorium has hosted plays, musical performances, dance recitals, public lectures, community forums and more. Every month, well-known local artists display their work in the Joan Resnikoff Gallery, for the public to come and enjoy for free. On the lower level, students enrolled in RCC's Broadcast Media Technology Program learn how to capture film and sound. And each summer, youth from Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan, and surrounding areas enroll in the Summer Arts Intensive to master the performing arts under the guidance of some of Boston's best teachers.

As with any facility, time takes its toll. The Media Arts Center is over 27 years old and still has all of its original components. To continue to be a vital hub of energy to the community, the facility needs to update its infrastructure to meet the technical requirements of the many activities that take place here. Thanks to DCAMM, some of the renovations like new elevators, new lavatories and wheelchair access to the main stage will be funded. The college needs to raise funds for the remaining work to be done, which includes a new sound system, lighting, seating, and carpeting. The cost is an estimated $300,000; and, to generate this funding, we need your help.
