Finance is one of the key ingredients for successful startups. This course enables entrepreneurs and would-be-entrepreneurs to understand the "language of finance" and teaches basic financial knowledge needed in starting and operating startups. Students of this course will learn to read and understand financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, and will also practice simple financial planning for a startup.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Samantha Stephenson is an experienced professional who has held diverse positions in both financial and business analysis with top firms such as Goldman Sachs and Hilton Worldwide, as well as start-up experience. She holds an MBA in Accounting and Operational Research from the University of Texas at Dallas, a BBA in Finance from the University of North Texas and is also a licensed Securities broker. Her main focuses include financial analysis, specifically FP&A and budget management, as well as investment evaluation. She is a driven individual that seeks to bring both her professional and educational experiences to the academic field in hopes of making a significant impact on students wishing to advance in finance and business.
