*This course will be offered remotely. This means that there are scheduled class meeting times for students to utilize Zoom and access live instruction online*

This 20-hour course is designed to help students gain an understanding of essential terminology and how to apply basic project management tools and techniques. It will cover project scope and gathering requirements, creating a project plan, assessing project risk, project status reporting, properly closing projects; and an introduction to Agile/Scrum. Students are encouraged to bring an actual project to the workshop in order to return to their place of work with an actual working strategy for the implementation of their projects.

TUITION: $300

BOOKS

Books are not included in the cost of tuition. Students are responsible for purchasing their books.

PREREQUISITES 

Students are not required to have prior project management knowledge.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Walter Geer is a seasoned senior project manager with over forty years of experience managing projects of various sizes and complexity for such Fortune 500 companies as Duracell USA, General Electric, Philip Morris USA, and McCormick & Company. In addition to the corporate environment, his project management experience also includes state government offices such as the State of New York and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and higher education including Harvard University, Wentworth Institute, and the Community College system of Massachusetts. His passion is to develop the next generation of project managers by passing along the experience gained throughout his career. In addition to training the next generation of project managers, he also serves as a Project Coach, working with new project teams and project managers by guiding them through the process of managing projects from inception to closeout.

He received a Master’s degree in Project Management from Northeastern University and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology from Duke University.
